PC Build + Home Setup
PC Build Goal
I wanted to test myself and my ability to complete a challenge in a category I knew very little about: how computers work. I had knowledge of HTML & CSS going into the build, but I had no idea what components went into a physical computer. I didn't even know what a "motherboard" was. I began researching, reading articles, and watching tech Youtubers. I became confident that I could build a pc successfully on my own. To start, I defined my goals and what parts I was willing to spend a little more on to get the performance I needed for video editing, animation, and gaming...
PC Build Challenges
Once all the parts arrived, I brought it out to the garage. I was afraid of damaging the expensive pc components so I took off my socks and stood on the cold floor to keep myself grounded, preventing static electricity from flowing into the new pc pieces. Feeling dedicated, and confident, I unpacked the goods and began to apply what I learned. The first problem I ran into was putting in the RAM. The RAM felt thin and I questioned its strength if I pushed too hard. Would it break the important end that connected to the card slot? In reality, I needed to push as hard as I could to snap the memory in the slot securely. The biggest challenge I ran into was cable management, after overcoming what cord connected where on the motherboard. In conclusion, I am tremendously happy with what I built and incredibly proud of myself that I did it on my own after diving into a world I new very little about. Going forward in life, I am grateful to have a wonderful pc that I can upgrade and have the confidence to do so. Overall, I learned the saying is true: I know I can take on any challenge that comes my way, as long as I apply myself 100%.
